Open Rise built the Soria app as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Open Rise at no cost and is intended for use as is.

Soria is an AI-powered learning assistant designed to help students from primary school through high school (Grade 6 to Terminale) with their homework and academic exercises.

This page informs visitors regarding our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone who decides to use our Service. If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible within the Soria application.

Information We Collect and Why

To provide and improve the Service, we collect the following categories of data:

• Identification data: parent's first name, last name, and phone number — used for account creation, authentication, and contact.
• Student profile data: first name, last name, school level, date of birth, gender, location (urban/rural), and learning objectives — used to personalize the educational experience.
• Educational activity data: conversation history with the AI, homework help sessions, revision sheets, quiz results, study time, and activity streaks — used to track progress and improve the Service.
• Images: photos of homework documents or exercises captured via the camera or selected from the photo library — used temporarily to provide AI-assisted homework help and deleted once the session is complete.

Camera and Photo Library Access

Soria requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely to enable the homework help feature:

• Camera access: to photograph a course document, worksheet, or exercise and submit it for AI analysis.
• Photo library access: to select an existing image from your device (e.g. a photo of a lesson or a screenshot of an exercise).

These permissions are only requested when you actively use the relevant feature. Images are never accessed in the background. Photos of homework are processed temporarily and are not stored beyond the session in which they were submitted.

AI-Powered Features (Soria)

The application integrates an artificial intelligence named Soria, designed to assist students in understanding and resolving academic exercises. Content you submit — including text and images — is processed solely to generate educational assistance.

AI-generated content (revision sheets, flashcards, quiz corrections, and explanations) is intended for the personal, non-commercial use of the student. It does not replace the guidance of a qualified teacher and may contain errors or inaccuracies that should be reviewed by a responsible adult.

Content submitted to Soria is not used to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.

Parental Consent and Children's Privacy

Soria is designed to be used by students under parental supervision. Only a parent or legal guardian (18 years of age or older) may create a parent account. A parent account can then create one or more student profiles.

In accordance with applicable law, the processing of data belonging to a child under 16 years of age requires the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By creating a student profile, the parent declares that they are the legal representative of the student and have given informed consent to the processing of the student's data.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verified parental consent. If you believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it from our systems without delay.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract: processing necessary to provide you with the Service.
• Consent: for certain optional data and features.
• Legitimate interest: to improve the Service and ensure its security.

Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

• Right of access: to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed and to access it.
• Right of rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): to request the deletion of your data.
• Right to object: to object to processing on legitimate grounds.

To delete a student profile or your entire parent account, go to the Parent Profile screen in the application. For any other request, please contact us via the in-app support. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. Upon deletion of your account, all associated personal data is permanently erased within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Photos of homework submitted to the AI are temporary and are not retained beyond the session in which they were used.

Data Storage and International Transfers

Your data is hosted on servers located in Europe, in conditions that provide a level of protection equivalent to that required by applicable data protection law. Where data is transferred outside your country of residence, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Log Data

Whenever you use our Service, in the case of an error in the app, we collect data and information (through third-party products) called Log Data. This may include your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the app configuration at the time of the error, the date and time of the incident, and other statistics. This information is used solely for diagnostic and service improvement purposes.

Cookies

This Service does not use cookies explicitly. However, third-party libraries used by the app may use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You may accept or refuse these cookies; note that refusing may limit certain parts of the Service.

Service Providers

We may engage third-party companies and individuals to:

• Facilitate and host our Service;
• Perform Service-related tasks on our behalf;
• Assist us in analyzing how the Service is used.
